This renovation of a condominium created a spacious 150 m² living environment by combining the living-dining-kitchen (LDK) and a second living room.

In the design process, the two living areas were set in contrast: the lively LDK, bright with morning sunlight, and the relaxing living room, a quiet space for gazing at the fireplace.

While maintaining visual connection, the two rooms were designed to accommodate different situations. The aim was not simply to have a single large room for family gatherings, but to allow each person to choose a place according to what they wanted to do, spending individual time while still being together as a family.

Features

Two spaces linked
by a study table

The LDK is bright and active in character, while the second living room is a calm retreat for evening relaxation. Between them stands a large, bean-shaped study table.

At this central table, family members can study, read, browse the internet, or even use a sewing machine for the children’s needs.

It also eliminates the need to clear the dining table at mealtimes. When guests gather, the table can serve as a buffet surface for a standing party.

The table is built in two tiers: the upper level can hold large greenery, creating an atmosphere as if studying in a forest, while the lower level includes storage furniture for keeping documents within easy reach.

Master bedroom
and study corner

The master bedroom and study corner are separated by a partition of comfortable height. The study area includes storage for bags and outerwear, as well as a desk for quiet reading. With a veneer finish, the partition allows it to function not merely as a storage room but as an open, display-like closet.
