Crevasse House
Comfortable life produced by space misalignment
“Crevasse” is a deep crack formed in a glacier or a snowy gorge. The formation of this house is produced by adding various "forces" (= conditions) on a square volume. Through the process, spaces have got misaligned and cracked at the boundaries. However, we thought, this formation would rather produce joyful and comfortable interior spaces. This is a house for a life enjoying the view of sky in Kobe from the crevasses and the beautiful green blessings of the park in front.

Space configurations
- Basement Garage - An extra guest parking space is available in front by placing the garage shutter at approximately 5m behind the street. That helps the parking lot not look like an excavated one. Trees are planted on both sides of the garage entrance as well as on its top, which produces a scene as if a car enters into a cave in a mountain.
- Crevasse - In the crevasse there are stairs hall "blessed" by glasses. On the way up on the stairs, a green delicious scenery of the front park is viewable through the slit-like "crack." Sunlight comes in through the crevasse and reaches even at the basement as well as the 1st floor, which brightens up all over the inside of the house.
- Study + Living room - Study and living room are combined in one space. This place allows relaxation on a couch to look out at the park and enjoy internet-surfing or reading in the crevasse. Dining room is divided by the crevasse, however the space there has no visual interference so that it feels spacious. For renovation in the future, it can still afford to create an additional room.
- Skip floor - The house halves creating the crevasse have a 700mm difference in height due to various conditions. Only skip floor could generate unique pleasures in a visual manner such as looking up or down as well as in a accessing manner. The way that the 1st and 2nd floor feel close is an attractive point, too.
