House in Zaoh
A double-family residence to gather with a decent sense of distance
This is a double-family residence planned in an area of approximately 608 square meters in the upland. The area consists of approximately 152 square meters for the parents’ house and approximately 126 square meters for their child’s house.
Desires from the client
They wanted both the parents’ house part and the child’s house part to function as a perfect residence. In addition to being able to live independently from each other, they wanted a living where both families can gather and have communication everyday.
Space configurations
- We designed a 13 square meters Japanese style room between the 2 “independent” housings, so that the both families can gather.
- This space can be directly accessed from the entrances of both households. It also works as a cushioning that softens the sound and the sign of each household.
- We thought about the daily safety as well. The line of movement is planned so that the living room in the parents’ house can be taken a look at when going out / coming back home.
